VH2 CEO Daryll Triplett Heads to Hollywood for U.S.–Japan Film Partnership

VH2 and Aurora will unveil a cross-market content partnership at the Global Film Fest in Hollywood on October 3, 2026.

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, GA, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — VH2 Networks CEO Daryll Triplett will travel to Hollywood on October 3, 2026, for the Global Film Fest at the world-famous TCL Chinese Theatre—an appearance that VH2 executives say represents a major step in the company’s international expansion.

Metro News Pool spoke with members of the VH2 leadership team about Triplett’s upcoming Hollywood appearance and the company’s newly announced strategic partnership with Tokyo-based Aurora Borealis Entertainment Corporation.

The partnership will create a cross-market entertainment platform designed to introduce American audiences to premium Japanese films while developing new opportunities for American content to reach audiences in Japan.

At the center of the festival presentation will be Aurora’s completed feature film, “Mysterious Pond,” directed by Gudni Gudnason and starring Natsuki Kunimoto, Lee Murayama, Sho Ikushima, and Masaya Kato.

The film follows a lonely Japanese woman who reconnects with traditional Japanese culture while searching for renewed meaning and purpose in her life.

“This is about building a lasting bridge between two powerful entertainment cultures,” Triplett told Metro News Pool. “Japan has an extraordinary history of storytelling, and VH2 wants to introduce more of those distinctive stories to American audiences. At the same time, we want to create meaningful opportunities for independent American filmmakers and creators to reach audiences in Japan.”

The partnership combines Aurora’s film archives, bilingual production experience, and development capabilities with VH2 Television’s streaming platform, distribution strategy, and growing international audience.

Triplett said the collaboration directly supports VH2’s mission of creating a global home for professionally produced independent entertainment.

“Great stories should not be limited by geography,” Triplett said. “VH2 gives creators an opportunity to be seen, heard, and distributed beyond their immediate markets. This partnership with Aurora brings that vision to life internationally.”

The Global Film Fest also carries a personal and professional connection for Mike Markwell, VH2’s newly appointed Executive Director of Programming and Distribution.

Several years ago, Markwell attended the festival when Aurora presented “Undaunted: The Story of Jane Aiko Yamano” at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The event featured a first-class red-carpet experience and hundreds of Japanese students parading along Hollywood Boulevard in ceremonial kimonos.

“I have personally witnessed the level of excellence, culture, and international excitement Aurora can bring to Hollywood,” Markwell told Metro News Pool. “To be part of this festival through VH2’s official partnership, with Daryll Triplett representing our company in Hollywood, is truly a full-circle moment.”

Markwell will help guide the selection, presentation, and distribution of films and other programming licensed or developed through the partnership.

“Our responsibility is to make sure these films are not simply placed on a platform and forgotten,” Markwell said. “We want to properly present them, promote them, and help audiences understand the culture and meaning behind each story.”

VH2 is planning a visible presence at the October 3 festival, including a branded step-and-repeat installation that will introduce filmmakers, entertainment professionals, members of the media, and festival attendees to the VH2 brand.

The company also plans to develop a dedicated Japanese programming section on VH2 Television, creating a recognizable destination for Japanese films, television programs, documentaries, and culturally significant content.

Aurora is developing additional streamable programming and a promotional sizzle reel expected to feature several major stars. Those projects could become part of a growing content pipeline between the two companies.
